The next fishing event is coming up on Sept 25th and I hope all of the LKFC members have a chance to come out, fish and enjoy some great homemade ice cream. I have made 2 ice creams this weekend as they take a great deal of time to create: Praline Pecan Pie and Cinnamon Oatmeal Raisin. of course, I will have vanilla and chocolate there as well,with all kinds of goodies inside. So fish hard or not, but come out and have some awesome ice cream. I would appreciate anyone attending to sign up early so I have an estimate on how much ice cream, etc. to have on hand. Meeting Place: We will meet at Calcasieu Pt. Marina launch between 6:30-7 am and launch by 7:15 am.  We will fish until 1 pm.  Homemade ice cream will be waiting for you when you’re finished fishing, so bring the kids.  It will be a great time to show off your catch while you cool off with some homemade ice cream, compliments of Jeff’s BEST.  

Trip Description:   Details to be covered at our Sept 21 meeting. Calcasieu Pt. Marina/Park is where we will serve ice cream.  Calcasieu Pt. Marina is part of Calcasieu Lake, aka Big Lake.  It’s a great place to fish this time of year for big trout, some flounder and Reds. It will still be hot this time of year so we’ll have homemade ice cream to cool you off!   

Tackle To Bring/Bait: Plastic swim baits, 1/4-1/8-3/8 oz jigheads, Gulp shrimp, Plastics under corks, top waters, corky style baits, live or dead bait, spoons/spinners.  There is a bait shop here.

Directions: From I-10 in  Lake Charles, take I-210W to exit 4 for Nelson Rd. Turn left at Louisiana 1138-2 W/Nelson Rd for 2.0 miles. Turn right at Country Club Rd/LA-384 for 2 miles, then left at Big Lake Rd/LA-384 for 4.6 miles. Calcasieu Pt. South is on Henry Pugh Blvd. after 1.2 miles,
