Description

Join us for the 4th Annual Cajun CastAway Kayak Fishing Tournament Sponsored by Pack and Paddle on Calcasieu Lake Sat Sept 29. Event is open to the public and family friendly. The format includes a tackle bag exchange at the 210 Launch the morning of the tournament and a SLAM format. If your bag is used by the winner you win the Bag Pot

EVENT RULES 

All rules and details are subject to change at anytime.  This event follows the club's general rules (read here) plus the following rules below.  Anyone breaking a rule is subject to immediate DQ from the tourney.

  1. ENTRY: $25 + $5 Optional Leopard Redfish Calcutta (+ $1.25 via PayPal) 
  2. REGISTER: Open to public until Fri Sept 30 | 11:59 PM.
  3. LEGAL DEPART TIME: 6 a.m.  You may put kayak in water before 6  a.m. You are allowed to sit in your kayak, in the water, but you may not depart or fish until 6 a.m.   
  4. LAUNCH BOUNDARIES: You may launch anywhere within the Cameron & Calcasieu Parishes from property that is accessible to all.  See club general rules on series page for details .
  5. ACCEPTED TACKLE: Artificial Lures Only
  6. FISHING TIME: 6 a.m. - 3 p.m.  
  7. SIGN-IN: Anglers must sign-in between 2-3 p.m.  Arriving after 3 = DQ.
  8. WEIGH-IN: LaFleur Park Kayak Launch. Begins at 3 PM.  Signed-in anglers will be called to the scale.  No culling at the weigh table.  Have your fish ready to weigh for your predetermined category(ies) when called upon. 
  9. PAYOUTS: The SLAM winner receives the Grand Prize Native Manta Ray donated by Pack & Paddle (to be picked up at PNP).  Cash payouts to 2nd place and lower depending on participation. 
  10. POINTS: Series Points applies to SLAM (LKFC Members).

DETAILS

  • Provide a tackle bag of lures that is exchanged that morning. 
  • You're only allowed 1 wildcard lure and a few other things outlined in the rules.
  • Pull names at Bridgeside and you fish with the bag pulled. 
  • Everyone then blasts off for their fishing destination along HWY 1 south of Fourchon. 
  • Your stringer may include up to 5-Fish with a combination of Redfish (2 Max), Trout and/or Flounder. 
  • If the winner uses your bag you win the Bag Pot

SLAM

A 2-FISH or 3-FISH SLAM is allowed.  A 3-FISH SLAM is 1 Redfish, 1 Speckled Trout and 1 Flounder.  Anglers who weigh a 3-FISH SLAM earn 2 bonus pounds.   A 2-FISH SLAM is 2 of the aforementioed (only 1 per species).  The angler with the heaviest combined SLAM # wins.     Redfish may not exceed 27”.  12” min for Speckled Trout, 10" min for Flounder. 

     Examples of each SLAM-    

     3-
FISH SLAM: 3# trout+2# flounder+3# red+2# bonus = 10lb
     2-FISH SLAM: 5# trout+4# Redfish= 9lb

 SLAM redfish may NOT be used for the calcutta.$5 Optional | Winner Takes Pot.  Most total spots (16”-27").

(1) The Grand Prize winner is to arrange for pickup at Pack and Paddle after the event.  Grand Prize is depending on participation of  at least 30 participants. In the event 30 are not met then cash prizes will be awarded.
