There are 2 launches: Prien Lake Park and 210 Park.
Skill Level: Beginner Trip Description: It's about a 1 mile paddle from the 210 launch to the ship channel. You head NW to get to the ship channel which runs right under the 210 bridge. You can fish the ship channel or all around the island. Reds, Speck and flounder may be caught here. On the East side of the island about 50-100 yds off of the bank can be good. Fish the channel, drop off and shallows on each side. You can drift this area for trout. Flounder can be caught around the points. Bridge base could hold fish as well. There is an island around the base of the bridge. You can fish all around this island. Explore all the old oil field channels across the channel.
Nite Fishing: You can find some dock lights from the Lake Charles neighborhoods. Just be aware that some owners don't like people fishing their lights.
Tackle To Bring/Bait: 1/4-1/8-3/8 oz jigheads, Gulp shrimp, Popping corks, dead shrimp on the bottom can be effective, spoons/spinners..
What to Watch For: Keep clear of the power boats.
How to Get There: From Lafayette take 210 in Lake Charles and exit Nelson Rd. Take left. At first light take a right on Prien Lake Rd. Take right at "t" stop sign and arrive at park. To get to Prien Lake Park, just take a left at the t and it'll be on your right.
